Indaver produces a standardised fuel that is suitable for biomass power plants from selectively collected green waste plus sieving overflow from composting plants at its site in Grimbergen and the IBOGEM site in Kallo.
By separating green waste mechanically in advance, a section of this organic flow can be used for energy applications. The wood-like material that we retain after mechanical separation is suitable for energy generation. It is this latter substance which is processed into biofuel or biomass. Sufficient structural material to produce a high-quality final product (green compost) remains in the section that is composted.
Biomass is the cleaned, wood-like portion of the landscape refuse that we break into small pieces and supply to energy producers such as Electrabel.
The biomass which Indaver offers at present is fully compliant with the energy producers’ strict acceptance criteria.
Thanks to the option of converting a portion of the green waste into an energy carrier, Indaver is contributing to achieving the Kyoto protocol goals.
