Physico-chemical units

The physico-chemical units are responsible for processing inorganic wastes. Acids and bases are neutralised, cyanides oxidised, chromates reduced (primarily hexavalent chromium)and heavy metals immobilised in the physic-chemical plants.

Emulsion breakage (of oil-water emulsions or latex emulsions), precipitation (of dissolved metals) and dewatering of sludge using filter presses are possible in specific cases. One or more treatments can be applied to very specific waste flows.

Physico-chemistry 1 processes liquid inorganic wastes. The formed filter cakes are deposited in Indaver’s own class 1 landfill, in accordance with acceptance criteria as stipulated in VLAREM 2.

Physico-chemistry 2 solidifies and immobilises solid inorganic wastes. The residual products are solidified sludge, dewatered wastes and the final products of immobilisation and neutralisation. They are removed to their own class 1 landfill site.
