Indaver has a specialised department for remediation projects and clearance (after a fire or disaster) of specific types of waste.

Indaver has extensive experience in remediation projects for hazardous and non-hazardous waste. For remediation projects set up by the authorities or by private companies, various disciplines contribute to ensuring a successful conclusion. Apart from screening and analysis, it usually involves an extensive contract for effective excavation. The logistical organisation required for efficient removal of large quantities of waste may also be quite complex. Excavated waste must be treated in the most sustainable way and the various options for processing and safe permanent storage have to be weighed up against each other.
Indaver has a specialised team to manage and follow up such remediation projects. Indaver’s expertise lies primarily in the analysis and preliminary study of contaminated sites with a view to ensuring safe treatment and removal of the excavated waste. The work and logistics often involve cooperation with outside contractors. Depending on the project, Indaver can assume overall management or act as sub-contractor for specific components of the remediation project.
Indaver’s own processing capacity and know-how play an important role in decontamination projects. In the port of Antwerp, Indaver has several landfill sites, a physicochemical treatment plant and specialised Waste-to-Energy installations.

Private companies or public bodies may be faced with a fire or other disaster in which burnt, damaged or confiscated products and materials are released that must be removed and treated in the short term. Indaver goes on site to assess and take stock of the situation to draw up a proposal for the safe packaging and removal of the waste released. Where specific screening is required, samples are taken. A proposal for removal is drawn up on the basis of the price, distance and technical and legal possibilities of treatment.
