Strict audit protocols
In-house audits help Indaver to monitor the implementation of its integrated management systems. This allows us to continuously improve. External audits allow authorities, customers and certification agencies to check our processes. The results of the in-house and external audits are monitored by the QESH department. The International Management Team is notified of any corrective actions taken.
In Belgium, the environmental inspectorate department of the Environment, Nature and Energy Department of the Flemish Government (LNE) checks whether Indaver complies with all the licence conditions, for instance for emissions into water and air. In addition, the VMM (Vlaamse Milieu Maatschappij - Flemish Environment Corporation) is charged with auditing the levies for discharges into water and air.
Due to the volume of hazardous waste that can be stored and treated there, our site in Antwerp is subject to the SEVESO Directive, a European Directive on the risks of industrial accidents. SEVESO audits are carried out by the Federal Public Service (FPS) for Employment, Labour and Social Consultation together with the environmental inspectorate department of the Environment, Nature and Energy Department of the Flemish Government (LNE).
Audits by clients
Clients regularly make use of the opportunity Indaver offers to carry out (administrative) audits themselves. These audits are either part of the acceptance procedure for Indaver as a waste treatment company (pre-contractual audits) or of an interim supplier evaluation (post-contractual audits).
Audits by external certification agencies
Indaver Belgium has ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certification in the name of Indaver nv and SVEX nv, which operates the grate incinerators and rotary kiln incinerators at the Doel site.
